We have announced advanced plans to produce a bold new sportscar that will signal our future ambitions and lay the foundations for an expansive product family that will deliver ‘accessible fun’ to new markets. As we look to build on over 40 years of evolving the UK-designed and built, lightweight Seven two-seater, the SP/300.R sports prototype trackday car and most recently the AeroSeven Concept.
The model will form the first phase of an ambitious development plan for Caterham Cars as we capitalise on the global footprint enjoyed by our parent Caterham Group, which now includes Caterham Technology & Innovation and Caterham Composites.
At Caterham Cars we are lucky enough to enjoy a unique place in the hearts of motoring enthusiasts, with iconic variants of the Seven, like the Seven 620 R, being a respected benchmark for performance and handling. Today, more than 55% of our annual production is exported to over 30 countries including France, Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Caterham Group Chairman, Tony Fernandes, said: “This is a pivotal moment in the life of Caterham Cars. We have a rich heritage in performance and motorsport stretching back to the 1950s but, above all, a pedigree of producing cars that make you smile. I promise you, this car will make you smile. It will showcase all the Caterham magic and take our DNA of accessible fun to more people than ever before.”
Graham Macdonald, Chief Executive of Caterham Cars, said: “With solid foundations, the future of Caterham Cars is very exciting. We have a plan. That plan will excite and delight enthusiasts and car buyers from around the globe. Our feet are firmly on the ground, but we’re also signalling our intention to grow.”
Technical, volume and pricing details will be announced in due course.
